The audience thought a goal was coming when Curcio Alonso got free with Robustiano Calvet in the 9th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Generoso Beloki made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Braulio Iyan in the 13th minute of play. In the 14th minute, Saverio Petrigai left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The CA Juventud Unida fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. In the 45th minute of the match, Curcio Alonso got a very nice opportunity to score, but Robustiano Calvet was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Rainer Marthaler made a kick off. 51 minutes into the match, Vodka Stars 1949's goalkeeper Generoso Beloki had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Saverio Petrigai.
