Manuel Lăcătuș made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Co Wielaert in the 18th minute of play. In the 20th minute Astral Roots Gdynia were awarded a corner. Tao Guang went to the cornerflag to take it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marian Serwach in the 25th minute of play forced Republica Ploiești's goalkeeper Manuel Lăcătuș to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee felt a red card was in order, 27 minutes into the game, when Bernard Walczak put in a rough tackle. The supporters of Astral Roots Gdynia booed when Republica Ploiești was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cosmin Chiriță didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 61st minute, Bogumil Dankowski got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Benedykt Jarosiewicz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Manuel Lăcătuș having to interfere. In the 90th minute, Republica Ploiești's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Jakub Kochanowski fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post.
