João Massa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mehmet Anıl Nusrettin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 10thth minute of the game Mehmet Anıl Nusrettin who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but UFC STEAUA's João Massa was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 12th minute, Mehmet Anıl Nusrettin left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The LIVERPOOL FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. 15 minutes into the game, Mehmet Anıl Nusrettin cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. In the 38th minute Mehmet Anıl Nusrettin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but João Massa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. UFC STEAUA's João Massa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mehmet Anıl Nusrettin in the 40th minute of play. The supporters of UFC STEAUA booed when LIVERPOOL FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marius Slătineanu didn't get a good kick on the ball. After the first half LIVERPOOL FC were leading 0-6. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Liviu Rada to strike the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, LIVERPOOL FC's Jim Björkkvist got a free kick in the 56th minute. When UFC STEAUA's Hermengildo Jobo in the 57th minute got a chance for a shot 57th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye LIVERPOOL FC's goalie prevented a goal. If Kang Guang Chao had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. UFC STEAUA's João Massa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Liu Zhi Zheng in the 63rd minute of play. 63 minutes into the match, Liu Zhi Zheng had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of João Massa. UFC STEAUA's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Liu Zhi Zheng was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-7. An unexpectedly hard shot by Liviu Rada in the 69th minute of play forced UFC STEAUA's goalkeeper João Massa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Liviu Rada came up free with the goalie in the 70th minute, the LIVERPOOL FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Liviu Rada couldn't finish the play. UFC STEAUA's João Massa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Liviu Rada in the 72nd minute of play. After 73 played minutes LIVERPOOL FC got a freekick which was hit by Kang Guang Chao. In the 74th minute, Therkild Prendorf made a precise shot to the right of Qian Ying Lang. LIVERPOOL FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-7. The crowd rose to their feet as Liviu Rada kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving João Massa. That made the score 1-8 in the 78 minute of play. Liviu Rada sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 83rd minute Liviu Rada shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but João Massa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Liviu Rada recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Liviu Rada in the 91st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck João Massa prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a rather tough play, LIVERPOOL FC's Kang Guang Chao got a free kick in the 93rd minute. Thanks to some nice moves Aurel Corlățean could shoot a difficult shot in the 95th minute, which João Massa however easily saved by the left post. In the 96th minute of the match LIVERPOOL FC got a corner. UFC STEAUA's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Liviu Rada ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner ended in Liviu Rada almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but UFC STEAUA's João Massa did a great save.
