After a rather tough play, Yala's Anton Best got a free kick in the 45th minute. With a little luck, Yala's Zeledon Curcio got control of the ball when Eric Târban tried to sneak it across the goal line. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Freddy Valentine was the one to do the kick off. In a very dangerous position, a player in RIVER fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 92nd minute. Penalty! In the 97th minute, Pipo Benedetto left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The RIVER fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-2. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. RIVER fully deserved thier win.
