Lütfü Mürsel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pedro Paulo Furlan in the 13th minute of play. 14 minutes had been played when some careless play by Fenerbahçe's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Hílton da Silveira was slow to take the kick. During this time Brasilino's players had a chance to rest. Lütfü Mürsel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Pedro Paulo Furlan, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. In the 18th minute Metehan Aurelio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Humberto Xavier saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 20 minutes into the game, Freddy Cordarrell recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Humberto Xavier. Freddy Cordarrell showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 3-0. Humberto Xavier showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Freddy Cordarrell, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. Humberto Xavier took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Odir Bautista, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
