To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 46 minutes into the match, New York Red Bulls's goal looked a bit too open when Dmitriy Bogaenko came free, but Eduardo Pereyra reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

The audience thought a goal was coming when Vincent Kellbom got free with Eduardo Pereyra in the 57th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With an all-out effort, Днепр ФК's Eduardo Pereyra threw himself towards the right post 59 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Michal Pazdan, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 89thth minute of the game Nazım Taci who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Днепр ФК's Vladislav Maksimychev was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 91st minute Gaspar Calisto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eduardo Pereyra saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Nazım Taci's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Vladislav Maksimychev was relentless in the 93rd minute of the game. After some careless play in the New York Red Bulls defense, Vincent Kellbom kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Eduardo Pereyra. The New York Red Bulls fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Eduardo Pereyra should have stopped the shot.
