Cercadinho's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Bergandy the free kick. In the 16th match minute, Cercadinho was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Claudinei Pirani to maneuver through the defense. Walmyr Félix kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. A collision led to Bergandy getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Jack Eklund hit a great ball. Rogério Ceni made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Koch in the 24th minute of play. Rogério Ceni came out of the goal in the 24th minute to try and stop a shot by Bergandy's Daniel Koch. But to his dismay, Daniel Koch quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. José Paulo Mello who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 27thth minute tested the skills of Franco Di Massa when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Rogério Ceni stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Thor Ståhlberg's shot from short distance in the 31st minute. The Cercadinho fans' excitement grew in the 32nd match minute when Cercadinho's José Paulo Mello looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After 39 played minutes Cercadinho got a freekick which was hit by Enrique Gerber. Bergandy's Franco Di Massa proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 43rd minute of the match, managed to save Bergandy from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Koch in the 45th minute of play forced Cercadinho's goalkeeper Rogério Ceni to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 47 minutes, Dito Tasso mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cercadinho and the Bergandy players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 48 played minutes Cercadinho got a freekick which was hit by Dito Tasso.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for José Paulo Mello to strike the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Bergandy's Thor Ståhlberg got a free kick in the 57th minute. Franco Di Massa stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of José Paulo Mello's shot from short distance in the 60th minute. Rogério Ceni showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jack Eklund in the 65th minute of the match. Bergandy's Franco Di Massa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by José Paulo Mello in the 73rd minute of play. With a little luck, Cercadinho's Rogério Ceni got control of the ball when Ingvar Molander tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Bergandy's zone, José Paulo Mello stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Franco Di Massa came out of the goal and José Paulo Mello tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Cercadinho made a substitution. Valiente Venezian replaced José Paulo Mello. Valiente Venezian recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 83rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 86 minutes into the match, Bergandy's goal looked a bit too open when Valiente Venezian came free, but Franco Di Massa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Thor Ståhlberg's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Rogério Ceni was relentless in the 94th minute of the game.
