After a rather tough play, AEK S.C's João Francisco de Andrade got a free kick in the 9th minute. Tobias Gorka kicked well hit freekick during the 11th minute of the match. In the 12th minute Jelte Bleiswijk shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Anibal Cambiasso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Anibal Cambiasso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jelte Bleiswijk, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jelte Bleiswijk in the 20th minute of play forced BAIRES's goalkeeper Anibal Cambiasso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanasis Koltsidas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marciano Cambiasso in the 21st minute of the match. BAIRES's Anibal Cambiasso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jelte Bleiswijk in the 26th minute of play. Gabriel Duarte got a throw-in 27 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Genaro Cambiasso. Jelte Bleiswijk might have been able to make a better finish in the 31st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Anibal Cambiasso. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jelte Bleiswijk ran back to his position shaking his head. BAIRES's Anibal Cambiasso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jelte Bleiswijk in the 31st minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in BAIRES's zone, Jelte Bleiswijk stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Anibal Cambiasso came out of the goal and Jelte Bleiswijk tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a little luck, BAIRES's Anibal Cambiasso got control of the ball when João Francisco de Andrade tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 43rd minute Andres Cambiasso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thanasis Koltsidas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Marciano Cambiasso made a kick off. 53 minutes into the match, BAIRES's goal looked a bit too open when Jelte Bleiswijk came free, but Anibal Cambiasso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 55 minutes into the match, Jelte Bleiswijk notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of BAIRES's Anibal Cambiasso. Anibal Cambiasso was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jelte Bleiswijk in the 58th minute of play forced BAIRES's goalkeeper Anibal Cambiasso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 61st minute of the match BAIRES got a corner. AEK S.C's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Gabriel Duarte ran over to the corner to take the kick. Anibal Cambiasso didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jelte Bleiswijk went, in the 64th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-1 was the resulting score. If Jelte Bleiswijk had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. AEK S.C made a substitution. Nektarios Tsagarakis replaced Thomas Papatrechas. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jelte Bleiswijk in the 82nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Anibal Cambiasso saved BAIRES from getting behind. Marciano Cambiasso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After a rather tough play, AEK S.C's Aníbal Lima got a free kick in the 84th minute. Thanasis Koltsidas made an important save on a dangerous shot by Marciano Cambiasso in the 85th minute. The audience was convinced that Jelte Bleiswijk's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Anibal Cambiasso was relentless in the 89th minute of the game. Donzel Goyeneta kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Nektarios Tsagarakis in the 94th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Anibal Cambiasso prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. AEK S.C had won after a very even match.
