Mauro Cunha came out of the goal and Israel Aballe tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the match had gone on for 20 minutes, Laércio de Andrade took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Mauro Cunha to make any attempt to save it. Laércio de Andrade received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Mauro Cunha tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Internacional's attentive Israel Aballe managed to snatch the ball when Herbert Bastide made a throw-in in the 39th minute of the game. With a little luck, Sabadim Harammes PRD's Mauro Cunha got control of the ball when Laércio de Andrade tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eder Lopes in the 48th minute of play forced Internacional's goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Eder Lopes to make the kick off. In the 55th minute, Eder Lopes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Zigor Abeita struck a weak shot in the 64th minute. Mauro Cunha didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Internacional. In the 69th minute, Eder Lopes ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Geronimo Rulli was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. In the 75th match minute, Sabadim Harammes PRD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bento Candal to maneuver through the defense. Mauro Cunha took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Laércio de Andrade, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Through an outstanding action, after 82 minutes, Geronimo Rulli successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Mauro Cunha made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Laércio de Andrade in the 85th minute of play. Internacional's Laércio de Andrade got a good chance for a goal in the 94th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
