The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. A collision led to Smurfarna getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Tord Gustafsson hit a great ball. After some careless play in the Smurfarna defense, Fred Valencia kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Tord Fors. The Smurfarna fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tord Fors should have stopped the shot. After 41 minutes of play, INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA's Nilmar de Souza made it 0-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Tord Fors was left in no man's land by his defense there! Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Fred Valencia in the 46th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tord Fors prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-4.

The supporters of Smurfarna booed when INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Daniel Wincek didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tord Gustafsson in the 52nd minute of play forced INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA's goalkeeper Alisson Goycochea to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lennart Hallgren hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. In the 53rd minute, Nilmar de Souza got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Fred Valencia in the 61st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Tord Fors saved Smurfarna from getting behind. In the 62nd minute INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA were awarded a corner. Nilmar de Souza went to the cornerflag to take it. After taking down the ball on INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA's corner Nilmar de Souza fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Tord Fors quite easily take care of the ball.
