Jiang Lei made a fantastic save in the 13th minute, when Conrado Lluciano sent off a good shot on target. A hard shot 16 in the game by Hermengildo Cordeara from a close distance when the talented Jiang Lei managed to make a qualified save. CERRO PORTEÑO's players were relieved. Desiderio Florian charged in rather forcefully in the 22nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Desiderio Florian the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 俞锋烽 came out of the goal in the 23rd minute to try and stop a shot by CERRO PORTEÑO's Mohieddine Ayari. But to his dismay, Mohieddine Ayari quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. If Mohieddine Ayari had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mohieddine Ayari in the 28th minute of play forced NEWELL´S OLD BOYS's goalkeeper 俞锋烽 to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 29 minutes into the match, CERRO PORTEÑO's Mohieddine Ayari sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that 俞锋烽 narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Jiang Lei made a fantastic save in the 32nd minute, when Leo Lore sent off a good shot on target. After some careless play in the NEWELL´S OLD BOYS defense, Mohieddine Ayari kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of 俞锋烽. The NEWELL´S OLD BOYS fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that 俞锋烽 should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mohieddine Ayari in the 43rd minute of play forced NEWELL´S OLD BOYS's goalkeeper 俞锋烽 to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Conrado Lluciano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 47 minutes into the match, Leo Lore had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jiang Lei. CERRO PORTEÑO's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Leo Lore was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3.

The wind increased when Mohieddine Ayari made the kick off in the second half. After having played for 52 minutes, Mohieddine Ayari managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. CERRO PORTEÑO's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mohieddine Ayari was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Mohieddine Ayari's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but 俞锋烽 read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 54th minute of play. 59 minutes into the game, one of NEWELL´S OLD BOYS:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Mohieddine Ayari shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Mohieddine Ayari in the 71st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg 俞锋烽 saved NEWELL´S OLD BOYS from getting behind. The CERRO PORTEÑO fans' excitement grew in the 71st match minute when CERRO PORTEÑO's Mohieddine Ayari looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-4 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. 76 minutes into the match, CERRO PORTEÑO's Mohieddine Ayari sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that 俞锋烽 narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Barto Crespo hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. Mohieddine Ayari could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 81st minute of the match, but 俞锋烽 made a huge save. 俞锋烽 was out of position in the 85 minute of play, and Mohieddine Ayari capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Mohieddine Ayari really showed his touch with that goal: 1-5. After a defensive mix-up in NEWELL´S OLD BOYS's zone, Mohieddine Ayari stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. 俞锋烽 came out of the goal and Mohieddine Ayari tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mohieddine Ayari got free with 俞锋烽 in the 91st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a defensive mix-up in NEWELL´S OLD BOYS's zone, Mohieddine Ayari stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. 俞锋烽 came out of the goal and Mohieddine Ayari tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The CERRO PORTEÑO supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing CERRO PORTEÑO would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
