Cactos's Carl Beck was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Diogo Dionísio in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. When the match clock showed 7 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Ricki Dresager sped through Limeirinha FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Diogo Dionísio. Diogo Dionísio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ricki Dresager, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ricki Dresager's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Diogo Dionísio read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 15th minute of play. Bran Allison made a fantastic save in the 19th minute, when Abelardo Larra sent off a good shot on target. Limeirinha FC's Diogo Dionísio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ricki Dresager in the 21st minute of play. 22 minutes had been played when some careless play by Limeirinha FC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Mario Yepes was slow to take the kick. During this time Cactos's players had a chance to rest. Diogo Dionísio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ricki Dresager, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Abelardo Larra was the one to do the kick off. Ricki Dresager's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Diogo Dionísio read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 53rd minute of play. After some careless play in the Limeirinha FC defense, Ricki Dresager kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Diogo Dionísio. The Limeirinha FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Diogo Dionísio should have stopped the shot. Cactos made a substitution. Luisinho Maciel replaced Ricki Dresager. An unexpectedly hard shot by Abelardo Larra in the 65th minute of play forced Cactos's goalkeeper Bran Allison to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 67 minutes, Luisinho Maciel made it 0-6 with a short kick to the right side. Limeirinha FC's Diogo Dionísio tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. The audience thought a goal was coming when Luisinho Maciel got free with Diogo Dionísio in the 70th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Diogo Dionísio had in the 90thth minute some difficulties stopping Mario Yepes's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Bran Allison made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Angelo Blue in the 91st minute of play. 94 minutes into the match, Luisinho Maciel had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Diogo Dionísio. Limeirinha FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Luisinho Maciel was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-8. Hortêncio Furlan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
