Botafogo MZRJ's Juvenal Camargo quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Edelmiro Filipo, made in the 3rd minute of the game. The supporters of Botafogo MZRJ booed when Motu was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Darío Ponga didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 11th minute, Gilmar Couto left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Botafogo MZRJ fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. 14 minutes into the match, Motu's Uriel Lleir sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Férid Khalifa narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Darío Ponga hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. Łukasz Fabiański took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Álvaro Melo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Delmiro Peru in the 25th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Férid Khalifa prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 29thth minute of the game Gilmar Couto who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Motu's Łukasz Fabiański was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Łukasz Fabiański showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gilmar Couto in the 32nd minute of the match. 38 minutes into the game, Alberto Novaes threw the ball into play from the sideline. Motu's Anastasio Garaona quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. 43 minutes into the match, Uriel Lleir dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Férid Khalifa, 2-1. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

Motu's Hipolito Osmundo was substituted for Uriel Lleir. Motu's Justo Stanislao was substituted for Michaël Albrecht. The wind increased when Hipolito Osmundo made the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Botafogo MZRJ booed when Motu was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edelmiro Filipo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gilmar Couto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Łukasz Fabiański tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Botafogo MZRJ's Gilvan Falcão got a good chance for a goal in the 63rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Férid Khalifa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hipolito Osmundo in the 67th minute of play. Férid Khalifa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hipolito Osmundo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gilvan Falcão recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 72nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Férid Khalifa didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Anastasio Garaona went, in the 79th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-1 was the resulting score. Botafogo MZRJ made a substitution. Jailson Capixaba replaced Gilmar Couto. When Motu's Hipolito Osmundo in the 83rd minute got a chance for a shot 83rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Botafogo MZRJ's goalie prevented a goal. Łukasz Fabiański made an important save on a dangerous shot by Silas Lara in the 89th minute.
