Pracusiowie's Paulino Erruki played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Perivaldo Eger in the 3rd minute of play. After having played for 6 minutes, Montrel Perpiñán managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. De Pelgrims's supporters crossed their fingers, but Montrel Perpiñán was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Mathias de Ruijter had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mike Zoetmulder showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Oleg Dzhangozov in the 12th minute of the match. Mike Zoetmulder came out of the goal in the 14th minute to try and stop a shot by Pracusiowie's Michel Andreasson. But to his dismay, Michel Andreasson quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Paulino Erruki came out of the goal in the 17th minute to try and stop a shot by De Pelgrims's Huub Gerrits. Mike Zoetmulder took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Oleg Dzhangozov, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 21 minutes De Pelgrims's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Oleg Dzhangozov who took care of the corner kick. The corner ended in Michel Andreasson almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but De Pelgrims's Mike Zoetmulder did a great save. When De Pelgrims's Perivaldo Eger in the 27th minute got a chance for a shot 27th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Mike Zoetmulder prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Zé Pedro Figueiredo was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 34 minutes into the match. Paulino Erruki was out of position in the 40 minute of play, and Huub Gerrits capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Huub Gerrits really showed his touch with that goal: 2-2. Mathias de Ruijter received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Paulino Erruki tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 46thth minute of the game Huub Gerrits who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Pracusiowie's Paulino Erruki was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Huub Gerrits to make the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Huub Gerrits in the 50th minute of play forced Pracusiowie's goalkeeper Paulino Erruki to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Huub Gerrits sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some careless play in the De Pelgrims defense, Oleg Dzhangozov kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Mike Zoetmulder. The De Pelgrims fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Mike Zoetmulder should have stopped the shot. After some fancy dribbling in the 68th minute, Mathias de Ruijter managed to get in a good position for a shot. De Pelgrims's supporters rose to their feet, but Mathias de Ruijter was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Paulino Erruki breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience was convinced that Huub Gerrits's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Paulino Erruki was relentless in the 71st minute of the game. Paulino Erruki made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-3.
