Péter Mészáros made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pedrinho Hoffmann in the 19th minute of play. Inácio Secco might have been able to make a better finish in the 21st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Eulalio Montrel. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Inácio Secco ran back to his position shaking his head. José Bomba sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 24 minutes into the match, F.C. Paços de Ferreira's goal looked a bit too open when Pedrinho Hoffmann came free, but Péter Mészáros reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Péter Mészáros showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Perivaldo Sampaio, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. In the 38th minute Márcio Cruz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Péter Mészáros saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Samuel de Souza kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. In the 40th minute, one of Atlético-PR:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Atlético-PR. Eulalio Montrel had in the 42ndth minute some difficulties stopping Igor Tudor's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Péter Mészáros showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Márcio Cruz, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for José Bomba to strike the kick off in the second half. Perivaldo Sampaio's late challenge caught a F.C. Paços de Ferreira's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Perivaldo Sampaio helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of F.C. Paços de Ferreira booed when Atlético-PR was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 50 match minutes in a wonderful position. Perivaldo Sampaio didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eulalio Montrel came out of the goal in the 51st minute to try and stop a shot by F.C. Paços de Ferreira's José Bomba. But to his dismay, José Bomba quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. In the 54th match minute, Atlético-PR was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Diogo Rezende to maneuver through the defense. After 55 played minutes Atlético-PR got a freekick which was hit by Peng Chao Feng. Péter Mészáros made an important save on a dangerous shot by Perivaldo Sampaio in the 62nd minute. Atlético-PR's Eulalio Montrel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by José Bomba in the 65th minute of play. Inácio Secco recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 67th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Atlético-PR's Hong Jian Fan was substituted for Pedrinho Hoffmann. Atlético-PR's Cyprian Rykaczewski was substituted for Márcio Cruz. An unexpectedly hard shot by José Bomba in the 69th minute of play forced Atlético-PR's goalkeeper Eulalio Montrel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Hong Jian Fan in the 92nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Péter Mészáros saved F.C. Paços de Ferreira from getting behind. F.C. Paços de Ferreira's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
