After 10 played minutes, Club Atlético Atlanta's Paolo Caradaro shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Eulalio Montrel came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Club Atlético Atlanta reached it. Eulalio Montrel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alfonso Goicoechea, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. Atlético-PR's Eulalio Montrel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paolo Caradaro in the 13th minute of play. When Perivaldo Sampaio fell near the penalty area in the 14th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Atlético-PR's protests and gave Perivaldo Sampaio a yellow card for diving instead. In the 14th match minute, Atlético-PR was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Perivaldo Sampaio to maneuver through the defense. In the 15th minute Alfonso Goicoechea shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eulalio Montrel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alfonso Goicoechea in the 19th minute of play forced Atlético-PR's goalkeeper Eulalio Montrel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 22 minutes into the match, Club Atlético Atlanta's goalkeeper Pankracy Glogowski had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Márcio Cruz. In the 23rd minute Atlético-PR were awarded a corner. Dráuzio Barral went to the cornerflag to take it. A nice corner shot did that Dráuzio Barral got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Pankracy Glogowski quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Pankracy Glogowski made a fantastic save in the 25th minute, when Dráuzio Barral sent off a good shot on target. In the 28th minute, Alfonso Goicoechea made a precise shot to the right of Eulalio Montrel. Atlético-PR's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Atlético-PR were furious when Eugênio Azevedo was red carded, 35 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. Eugênio Azevedo kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. Atlético-PR's Eulalio Montrel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ciro Ferdinand in the 36th minute of play. Pedrinho Hoffmann fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pankracy Glogowski having to interfere. In the 43rd minute, Fabio Artaldo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Eulalio Montrel was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. In the 47th minute, Atlético-PR's Pedrinho Hoffmann ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Pankracy Glogowski. Pankracy Glogowski yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-2. After the first half Club Atlético Atlanta were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Pedrinho Hoffmann to make the kick off. Eulalio Montrel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mugur Chiriac in the 52nd minute of play. Eulalio Montrel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alfonso Goicoechea in the 54th minute of the match. 58 minutes into the match, Club Atlético Atlanta's goal looked a bit too open when Pedrinho Hoffmann came free, but Pankracy Glogowski reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Pedrinho Hoffmann's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Pankracy Glogowski was relentless in the 60th minute of the game. Dráuzio Barral was slow to take the kick. During this time Atlético-PR's players had a chance to rest. Atlético-PR's Ambrosio Rayman was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Pankracy Glogowski in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Pankracy Glogowski stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ambrosio Rayman's shot from short distance in the 82nd minute. 84 minutes into the game, Anselmo Nevada cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-4. Eulalio Montrel was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 93rd minute, Alfonso Goicoechea ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Eulalio Montrel was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-5. The Atlético-PR fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Club Atlético Atlanta were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
