Turgay Şeren showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Costin Alucai, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. In the 33rd minute Huang Rong shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Horea Balint saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee ignored Bar Marconi United's protests and gave Rene Santana a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Golden Generation booed when Bar Marconi United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rene Santana didn't get a good kick on the ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The audience thought a goal was coming when Barnaba Ciborek got free with Horea Balint in the 66th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 67 minutes into the match, Bar Marconi United's goalkeeper Horea Balint had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Barnaba Ciborek. If Elivélton Cunha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Golden Generation's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
