Heinz-Gerd Bonin was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Tyron Velasquez showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 16 minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Matti Erkiner in the 20th minute of play forced Santos FC's goalkeeper Aaron Smallwood to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, 1.FC Aufbau-Einsturz's Cederique De Meur got a free kick in the 23rd minute. 25 minutes into the game, Tyron Velasquez cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Heinz-Gerd Bonin was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 29th minute Matti Erkiner shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aaron Smallwood saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Aaron Smallwood showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Matti Erkiner in the 35th minute of the match. Heinz-Gerd Bonin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lanny Gilmore in the 37th minute of play. The supporters of Santos FC booed when 1.FC Aufbau-Einsturz was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Charles Gadd didn't get a good kick on the ball. Santos FC's Warren Ruiz got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Matti Erkiner made the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute, Matti Erkiner ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Aaron Smallwood was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. Santos FC's attentive Tyron Velasquez managed to snatch the ball when Bosko Rilke made a throw-in in the 53rd minute of the game. Santos FC's Aaron Smallwood proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 60th minute of the match, managed to save Santos FC from getting a goal against them. Aaron Smallwood took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Matti Erkiner, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 64th match minute, Santos FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tyron Velasquez to maneuver through the defense. Santos FC were awarded a corner in the 68th minute after 1.FC Aufbau-Einsturz's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Warren Ruiz took the corner. The corner led Santos FC's Titus Kohler to fire away a dangerous shot which Heinz-Gerd Bonin despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. The audience was convinced that Terence Nicholas's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Heinz-Gerd Bonin was relentless in the 68th minute of the game. Heinz-Gerd Bonin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tyron Velasquez in the 70th minute of play. 1.FC Aufbau-Einsturz made a substitution. Marcus Willmann replaced Matti Erkiner. 74 minutes into the match, 1.FC Aufbau-Einsturz's goal looked a bit too open when Lanny Gilmore came free, but Heinz-Gerd Bonin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Marcus Willmann recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 75th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 81st match minute, Santos FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Anthony Wall to maneuver through the defense. Andras Gafus fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aaron Smallwood having to interfere. Heinz-Gerd Bonin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lanny Gilmore in the 93rd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Santos FC's zone, Andras Gafus stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Aaron Smallwood came out of the goal and Andras Gafus tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
