Józef Mlynarczyk made an important save on a dangerous shot by William Symons in the 12th minute. After 15 minutes KKS Lech Poznań's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Johnnie Osbourn who took care of the corner kick. Marcus Deacon showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marian Wolniewicz in the 17th minute of the match. KKS Lech Poznań's Józef Mlynarczyk played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Patrick Robins in the 19th minute of play. Maciej Kiepski might have been able to make a better finish in the 21st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Marcus Deacon. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Maciej Kiepski ran back to his position shaking his head. Marian Wolniewicz kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. Maciej Kiepski received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Marcus Deacon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Józef Mlynarczyk showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Steve Oliver in the 29th minute of the match. Józef Mlynarczyk made a fantastic save in the 32nd minute, when Patrick Robins sent off a good shot on target. Marian Wolniewicz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Marcus Deacon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Marian Wolniewicz blasted a shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Marcus Deacon having to make a save. In the 37th minute, Maciej Kiepski made a precise shot to the right of Marcus Deacon. Mayo's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. 41 minutes into the match, Mayo's goal looked a bit too open when Maciej Kiepski came free, but Marcus Deacon reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 47th minute, Maciej Kiepski ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Marcus Deacon was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Steve Oliver was the one to do the kick off. If Patrick Robins had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. KKS Lech Poznań's Józef Mlynarczyk played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Patrick Robins in the 57th minute of play. 59 minutes into the match, Maciej Kiepski had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Marcus Deacon. Mayo's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Maciej Kiepski was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-4. In the 62nd minute, Maciej Kiepski reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Marcus Deacon. The goal made the score 0-5. Józef Mlynarczyk showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Patrick Robins, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. In the 67th minute, Marian Wolniewicz fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Marcus Deacon, passed just outside the right post. Józef Mlynarczyk took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Steve Oliver, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 72nd match minute, Mayo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Amílton Siqueira to maneuver through the defense. After 74 played minutes Mayo got a freekick which was hit by Amílton Siqueira. Marian Wolniewicz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 74th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 80th match minute, Mayo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Amílton Siqueira to maneuver through the defense. Marcus Deacon made an important save on a dangerous shot by Maciej Kiepski in the 80th minute. 82 minutes into the match, KKS Lech Poznań's goal looked a bit too open when Will Porter came free, but Józef Mlynarczyk reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mayo's Marcus Deacon proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 89th minute of the match, managed to save Mayo from getting a goal against them. Marcus Deacon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marian Wolniewicz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Chants of KKS Lech Poznań echoed around the stadium as the match drew to a close. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as Mayo had held the ball for most of the match.
