In the 4thth minute of the game Nestor Gonzáles who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Independiente's Chiquito Martinez was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Nestor Gonzáles in the 6th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Chiquito Martinez saved Independiente from getting behind. Chiquito Martinez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nestor Gonzáles, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nestor Gonzáles got free with Chiquito Martinez in the 11th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Sixten Nordström showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jorg Pieters in the 14th minute of the match. Flavio Laurgain scored 0-1 in the 17th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Sixten Nordström, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
