The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd minute Fabinho dos Santos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rui Santos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Atlético Zelaya's Rui Santos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fabinho dos Santos in the 3rd minute of play. After 9 minutes, Ezequiel Mineiro mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Club Athletico Paulistano and the Atlético Zelaya players grew even worse after the yellow card. Atlético Zelaya's Alonzo Sal shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 9th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Acácio Lara but with some difficulty. Rui Santos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fabinho dos Santos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 16 minutes into the match, Fabinho dos Santos notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Atlético Zelaya's Rui Santos. Rui Santos was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 21 minutes into the game, Club Athletico Paulistano's Fabinho dos Santos nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Rui Santos made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. The corner led Club Athletico Paulistano's Agnaldo Mattos to fire away a dangerous shot which Rui Santos despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Fabinho dos Santos recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 95th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Although Atlético Zelaya had been in control for most of the match, Club Athletico Paulistano still came away with the win.
