Spectators: 174 (Terracing: 131, Seating: 40, VIP seats: 3) FC Steaua Pildesti's Costin Iorgu started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. FC Steaua Pildesti's Costin Iorgu got a good chance for a goal in the 4th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. FC Steaua Pildesti's Marian Văduvescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alfredo Pantani in the 6th minute of play. 9 minutes into the match, FC Steaua Pildesti's Nicolae Barbu sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Roman Matai narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Nicolae Barbu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Roman Matai read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 11th minute of play. In the 22nd minute Zygmunt Dunajski shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Roman Matai saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Through an outstanding action, after 27 minutes, Marian Văduvescu successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Nicolae Barbu might have been able to make a better finish in the 28th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Roman Matai. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Nicolae Barbu ran back to his position shaking his head. 34 minutes into the game, Nicolae Barbu cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Roman Matai was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Roman Matai came out of the goal in the 38th minute to try and stop a shot by FC Steaua Pildesti's Lucian Stere. But to his dismay, Lucian Stere quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. When Velester Football Club's Comunardo Valente in the 41st minute got a chance for a shot 41st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye FC Steaua Pildesti's goalie prevented a goal. Melquiades Galtero's late challenge caught a FC Steaua Pildesti's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Melquiades Galtero helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of FC Steaua Pildesti booed when Velester Football Club was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Melquiades Galtero didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lucian Stere sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Robert Antohi lost his temper 47 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 46th minute of the game. One of FC Steaua Pildesti:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Velester Football Club:s goal.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Comunardo Valente was the one to do the kick off. Velester Football Club's Roman Matai proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 55th minute of the match, managed to save Velester Football Club from getting a goal against them. In the 62nd minute, Cristian Fința hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Nicolae Barbu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 65th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Marian Văduvescu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alfredo Pantani in the 67th minute of play. Velester Football Club's Roman Matai played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Costin Iorgu in the 69th minute of play. Zygmunt Dunajski hit a great freekick 73 minutes into the match. In the 74th minute, Zygmunt Dunajski hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 82 minutes into the match, FC Steaua Pildesti's goal looked a bit too open when Comunardo Valente came free, but Marian Văduvescu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Enrico Di Lorenzo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marian Văduvescu having to interfere. In the 89th minute, Nicolae Barbu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. FC Steaua Pildesti walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
