Dani Amarita was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Gong Ao Guang blasted a shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Dani Amarita having to make a save. Peñarol were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched C.A. Peñarol eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
