Yuri Portugals short, quick shot in the 12thth minute got José Luis Chilavert to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. José Luis Chilavert made an important save on a dangerous shot by Unai Sócrates in the 21st minute. Radamel Hendrickx made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eulalio Callejas in the 23rd minute of play. Unai Sócrates could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 26th minute of the match, but José Luis Chilavert made a huge save. José Luis Chilavert was a little too slow when Unai Sócrates got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 26th minute. The score was now 1-0. Fauna Utd's Radamel Hendrickx played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eulalio Callejas in the 30th minute of play. If Yuri Portugal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 44 minutes into the match, Ballet Azul's goal looked a bit too open when Yuri Portugal came free, but José Luis Chilavert reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

Radamel Hendrickx was out of position in the 93 minute of play, and Odín Enríquez capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Odín Enríquez really showed his touch with that goal: 1-2. The Ballet Azul players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
