Nichifor Moțoc made a fantastic save in the 19th minute, when Mugur Gabrea sent off a good shot on target. Lucian Ionașcu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mihai Dobrica having to interfere. The supporters of AC Milan booed when Dafiru was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marin Chifu didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Niculae Ivasiuc made a kick off. Tiberiu Cordescu received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal.
