When Efrain Ilixo fell near the penalty area in the 10th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Deportivo Balvanera's protests and gave Efrain Ilixo a yellow card for diving instead. After 10 played minutes Deportivo Balvanera got a freekick which was hit by Efrain Ilixo. The Deportivo Balvanera fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Fernan Ignado should have stopped the shot. After a rather tough play, Deportivo Balvanera's Ramiro Quin got a free kick in the 45th minute. Deportivo Balvanera's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Pedrinho do Valle 47 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 5-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tiaguinho Faria stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
