William Feuerstein made an important save on a dangerous shot by Farouk Gameel in the 3rd minute. In the 8th minute, Bolton Wanderers's Ibrahim Emam dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. Jan Fabricius took the ball and in the 27 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Kordy Akram. Kordy Akram dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. A throw-in in the 31st minute of the game was made by Barakat Fathy with Osama Walid as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. Jan Fabricius's late challenge caught a Bolton Wanderers's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jan Fabricius helped the player get up and apologised. In the 36th match minute, Hull City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jan Fabricius to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Hull City's zone, Mazhar Ismail stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. William Feuerstein came out of the goal and Mazhar Ismail tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. William Feuerstein took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mazhar Ismail, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 40th minute of the match Bolton Wanderers got a corner. Hull City's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Farouk Gameel ran over to the corner to take the kick. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Abdel Wahab Fadel in the 40th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg William Feuerstein saved Hull City from getting behind. Barakat Fathy got a throw-in 44 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Farouk Gameel.
The wind increased when Jan Fabricius made the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Bolton Wanderers's zone, Jan Fabricius stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kordy Akram came out of the goal and Jan Fabricius tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 58 minutes into the match, Bolton Wanderers's goal looked a bit too open when Jan Fabricius came free, but Kordy Akram reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 59th minute, Jan Fabricius managed to get in a good position for a shot. Hull City's supporters rose to their feet, but Jan Fabricius was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kordy Akram breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Mazhar Ismail received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. William Feuerstein tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Bolton Wanderers's Mazhar Ismail got a good chance for a goal in the 68th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jan Fabricius got free with Kordy Akram in the 75th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
