Vera Cruz's Álvaro Moutinho got a good chance for a goal in the 10th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 13th match minute, Gniewoszów SA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hugon Banas to maneuver through the defense. 15 minutes into the match, Gniewoszów SA's goal looked a bit too open when Sidónio Peralta came free, but Witomir Ochylski reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gniewoszów SA's defense didn't have a chance, in the 19th minute, when Sidónio Peralta scored to the left of an out of position Witomir Ochylski, making the score, 1-0. Sidónio Peralta charged in rather forcefully in the 21st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Sidónio Peralta the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Vera Cruz's Sidónio Peralta got a free kick in the 21st minute. Witomir Ochylski showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sidónio Peralta, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. In the 27th minute, Sidónio Peralta reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Witomir Ochylski. The goal made the score 2-0. If Roman Rydzyk had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 37thth minute of the game Sidónio Peralta who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Gniewoszów SA's Witomir Ochylski was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Vera Cruz's Sidónio Peralta slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Witomir Ochylski. That made the score 4-0 after 40 minutes of play. Álvaro Moutinho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Witomir Ochylski having to interfere.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Roman Rydzyk to make the kick off. In the 52nd minute, Edward Banaszak left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Gniewoszów SA fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 55th minute, Sidónio Peralta managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vera Cruz's supporters rose to their feet, but Sidónio Peralta was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Witomir Ochylski breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Teofil Dobilas's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but António Correia read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 58th minute of play. Sidónio Peralta received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Witomir Ochylski tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Witomir Ochylski stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Sidónio Peralta's shot from short distance in the 73rd minute. If Sidónio Peralta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 76th minute Teofil Dobilas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but António Correia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. António Correia made a fantastic save in the 77th minute, when Teofil Dobilas sent off a good shot on target. After 78 minutes, Vasco Gaspar mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Vera Cruz and the Gniewoszów SA players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 78th minute, Vasco Gaspar hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Fábio Ribeiro in the 83rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Witomir Ochylski prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Vicente Mendonça's late challenge caught a Gniewoszów SA's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Vicente Mendonça helped the player get up and apologised. Vera Cruz's António Correia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Roman Rydzyk in the 86th minute of play. 93 minutes into the match, Gniewoszów SA's goal looked a bit too open when Sidónio Peralta came free, but Witomir Ochylski reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Vera Cruz's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
