In the 16th minute Abdel Wahab Fadel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Casimiro Peruxu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bolton Wanderers's Abdel Wahab Fadel got a good chance for a goal in the 17th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 19 minutes, Danilo Cibran managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Jorge Newbery's supporters crossed their fingers, but Danilo Cibran was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Ezz Deyaa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the Jorge Newbery defense, Abdel Wahab Fadel kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Casimiro Peruxu. The Jorge Newbery fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Casimiro Peruxu should have stopped the shot. Guaberto Iago kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Jorge Newbery defense, Mazhar Ismail kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Casimiro Peruxu. The Jorge Newbery fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Casimiro Peruxu should have stopped the shot. Mazhar Ismail sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Casimiro Peruxu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mazhar Ismail in the 60th minute of play. Nunez Pacorro's late challenge caught a Bolton Wanderers's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nunez Pacorro helped the player get up and apologised. In a very dangerous position, a player in Jorge Newbery fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 62nd minute. Penalty! Casimiro Peruxu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mazhar Ismail in the 68th minute of the match. Khalil Besheer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcial Menendo in the 71st minute of play. Mazhar Ismail sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 82nd match minute, Jorge Newbery was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Teo Dino to maneuver through the defense. After 85 minutes, Modesto Orlandus mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Jorge Newbery and the Bolton Wanderers players grew even worse after the yellow card.
