When Vasco Gaspar fell near the penalty area in the 5th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Vera Cruz's protests and gave Vasco Gaspar a yellow card for diving instead. In the 5th match minute, Vera Cruz was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vasco Gaspar to maneuver through the defense. In the 17th minute, Angelino Maiorga got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Santos Azeari during the 22nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Santos Azeari hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. After 23 played minutes, Vera Cruz's Joel Severiano shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Emilio Bernaldo came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Angelino Maiorga in the 30th minute of play forced Vera Cruz's goalkeeper António Correia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Emilio Bernaldo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sidónio Peralta in the 37th minute of play. Teodosio Cidro's late challenge caught a Vera Cruz's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Placido Inocente fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without António Correia having to interfere. 55 minutes into the match, Alpasinche's goal looked a bit too open when Sidónio Peralta came free, but Emilio Bernaldo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Vera Cruz's Sidónio Peralta got a free kick in the 57th minute. Emilio Bernaldo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Sidónio Peralta's shot from short distance in the 63rd minute. In the 70th play minute Adolfo Morais came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Emilio Bernaldo. 1-1. 74 minutes into the game, one of Vera Cruz:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. António Correia had in the 76thth minute some difficulties stopping Jesus Handi's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Alpasinche were awarded a corner in the 77th minute after Vera Cruz's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Jesus Handi took the corner. When the match clock showed 77 minutes, the score became 2-1 when Evaristo Gumaro sped through Vera Cruz's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of António Correia. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Hilario Cisco in the 80th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck António Correia prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 83 minutes into the game, Alpasinche's Angelino Maiorga nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. António Correia made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-1. The supporters of Vera Cruz booed when Alpasinche was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 87 match minutes in a wonderful position. Evaristo Gumaro didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 95th minute, Placido Inocente ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. António Correia was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-1. When Fábio Ribeiro came up free with the goalie in the 99th minute, the Vera Cruz fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fábio Ribeiro couldn't finish the play. Alpasinche's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
