Sven Brask was slow to take the kick. During this time Lokomotiv Plovdiv's players had a chance to rest. The corner led Lokomotiv Plovdiv's Sven Brask to fire away a dangerous shot which Matt Doughty despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. 44 minutes into the game, Lokomotiv Plovdiv's Mirolyub Dragoychev nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Matt Doughty made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Zdzislaw Obuchowicz to strike the kick off in the second half. Matt Doughty made a fantastic save in the 54th minute, when Zdzislaw Obuchowicz sent off a good shot on target. After 56 minutes of play, Lokomotiv Plovdiv's Zdzislaw Obuchowicz made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Matt Doughty was left in no man's land by his defense there! When Antoni Tokludzhanov came up free with the goalie in the 58th minute, the Lokomotiv Plovdiv fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Antoni Tokludzhanov couldn't finish the play. Bangladesh's Matt Doughty proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 95th minute of the match, managed to save Bangladesh from getting a goal against them.
