Peter Pekarík was slow to take the kick. During this time AFK Petržalka's players had a chance to rest. ЦСКА's Anzhelo Gerushin proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 8th minute of the match, managed to save ЦСКА from getting a goal against them. In the 9th match minute, ЦСКА was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Belcho Hlebarov to maneuver through the defense. Anzhelo Gerushin was out of position in the 10 minute of play, and Michal Hudák capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Michal Hudák really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Peter Pekarík in the 19th minute of play forced ЦСКА's goalkeeper Anzhelo Gerushin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nedelcho Petlichkov kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. Anzhelo Gerushin made an important save on a dangerous shot by Michal Hudák in the 24th minute. 28 minutes into the match, ЦСКА's goal looked a bit too open when Michal Hudák came free, but Anzhelo Gerushin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. ЦСКА's Anzhelo Gerushin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Igor Bališ in the 34th minute of play. After 43 minutes, Viktor Seno mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the AFK Petržalka and the ЦСКА players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to AFK Petržalka getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Viktor Seno hit a great ball. AFK Petržalka were awarded a corner in the 48th minute after ЦСКА's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Peter Pekarík took the corner. In the 50th minute AFK Petržalka were awarded a corner. Peter Pekarík went to the cornerflag to take it. AFK Petržalka's Peter Pekarík was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Anzhelo Gerushin in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Michal Hudák made a kick off. Lyuboslav Popinski hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. Anzhelo Gerushin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Michal Hudák, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 57 minutes into the match, Michal Hudák notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of ЦСКА's Anzhelo Gerushin. Anzhelo Gerushin was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Anzhelo Gerushin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Michal Hudák in the 65th minute of the match. In the 67th match minute, ЦСКА was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nedelcho Petlichkov to maneuver through the defense. ЦСКА's Anzhelo Gerushin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Michal Hudák in the 69th minute of play. Michal Hudák might have been able to make a better finish in the 70th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Anzhelo Gerushin. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Michal Hudák ran back to his position shaking his head. 70 minutes into the match, ЦСКА's goal looked a bit too open when Michal Hudák came free, but Anzhelo Gerushin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of AFK Petržalka booed when ЦСКА was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Toncho Súrbinski didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match had gone on for 76 minutes, Belcho Hlebarov took a quick shot and it went in 2-1 without a chance for Adam Hrdina to make any attempt to save it. A sloppy throw-in by Ivelin Ananiev in the 79th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by AFK Petržalka's Vernon De Marco. In the 81st minute Nikola Krstović shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Anzhelo Gerushin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Nikola Krstović's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Anzhelo Gerushin was relentless in the 81st minute of the game. In the 84th minute Peter Pekarík shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Anzhelo Gerushin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Anzhelo Gerushin dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-1. There was no doubt that AFK Petržalka were the better team. AFK Petržalka's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
