Pipis Karapatakis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Leo Nesto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 12 minutes into the match, Grêmio FBPA's goal looked a bit too open when Justino Erruki came free, but Jardel Sanches reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jardel Sanches showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tano Sampler, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. Pipis Karapatakis recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 17th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 19 minutes into the match, Grêmio FBPA's Pipis Karapatakis sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Leo Nesto narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The crowd rose to their feet as Pipis Karapatakis kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Leo Nesto. That made the score 1-0 in the 22 minute of play. Filiph Biörling sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Pipis Karapatakis might have been able to make a better finish in the 28th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Leo Nesto. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Pipis Karapatakis ran back to his position shaking his head. Pipis Karapatakis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Leo Nesto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pipis Karapatakis in the 30th minute of play. Grêmio FBPA's Pipis Karapatakis got a good chance for a goal in the 32nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Leo Nesto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pipis Karapatakis in the 34th minute of play. In the 40th match minute, Mervaleta FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jonathan Ortzi to maneuver through the defense. Pipis Karapatakis's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 41stth minute, Leo Nesto skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Jardel Sanches made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Justino Erruki in the 47th minute of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Pipis Karapatakis stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute, Pipis Karapatakis ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Leo Nesto was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. After some careless play in the Mervaleta FC defense, Pipis Karapatakis kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Leo Nesto. The Mervaleta FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Leo Nesto should have stopped the shot. The audience was convinced that Pipis Karapatakis's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Leo Nesto was relentless in the 58th minute of the game. Leo Nesto stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Pipis Karapatakis's shot from short distance in the 60th minute. Leo Nesto came out of the goal in the 63rd minute to try and stop a shot by Grêmio FBPA's Pipis Karapatakis. But to his dismay, Pipis Karapatakis quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-0. In the 70th minute the ball was on its way in behind Mervaleta FC's goalkeeper Leo Nesto, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 76th minute Pipis Karapatakis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Leo Nesto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 77th minute Justino Erruki shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jardel Sanches saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 79 minutes into the match, Pipis Karapatakis had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Leo Nesto. Mervaleta FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Pipis Karapatakis was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-0. Pipis Karapatakis's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Leo Nesto read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 83rd minute of play. Leo Nesto stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Pipis Karapatakis's shot from short distance in the 88th minute. The supporters of Mervaleta FC booed when Grêmio FBPA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nikos Nentopoulos didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Grêmio FBPA's Ted Hoogenkamp got a free kick in the 93rd minute. For all the effort they put into the match, the Mervaleta FC players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Grêmio FBPA.
