In the 20th minute, Gabi Gol ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Marcos Buffon was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Innocenzio Corales made in the 57th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Dario Alegría however managed to control. Nestor Quirino showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dario Alegría in the 59th minute of the match. Nestor Quirino made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alex Sági in the 61st minute of play. Eliézer Azevedo lost his temper 62 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. After a rather tough play, América-SC F.C.'s Eliézer Azevedo got a free kick in the 62nd minute. AVAÍ F.C.'s Claus Van De Wiele was substituted for Dario Alegría. América-SC F.C.'s defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-6. América-SC F.C.'s Kobe Haaland was substituted for Gabi Gol. After a defensive mix-up in América-SC F.C.'s zone, Walmyr Salles stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nestor Quirino came out of the goal and Walmyr Salles tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Erasmo dos Santos blasted a shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Marcos Buffon having to make a save. When the match clock showed 84 minutes, the score became 2-6 when Walmyr Salles sped through América-SC F.C.'s defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Nestor Quirino. If Walmyr Salles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 93rd minute of the match Elder Domingues shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Marcos Buffon showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball.
