U21 Austria's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Hubert Villa didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jonatan Bilintx went, in the 25th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Hubert Villa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jonatan Bilintx, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Luca Ternes hit a great ball. 35 minutes into the match, Jonatan Bilintx had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Hubert Villa. U21 Austria's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jonatan Bilintx was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. After 38 played minutes U21 Austria got a freekick which was hit by Luca Ternes. Nico-Pascal Kapteina received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Paulo Oliveiro came out and tried to block the shot, but Nico-Pascal Kapteina slotted it home off the left post making it 1-2 in the 43rd minute. When U21 Austria's Nico-Pascal Kapteina in the 46th minute got a chance for a shot 46th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye U21 Mexico's goalie prevented a goal. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Tomás Ortzi made the kick off in the second half. Cirilo Botello kicked well hit freekick during the 50th minute of the match. Jonatan Bilintx fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hubert Villa having to interfere. Jonatan Bilintx in the 54thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Hubert Villa, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. The supporters of U21 Mexico booed when U21 Austria was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luca Ternes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hubert Villa made a fantastic save in the 55th minute, when Jonatan Bilintx sent off a good shot on target. U21 Mexico were awarded a corner in the 57th minute after U21 Austria's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Giannis Antetokounmpo took the corner. The long shot by Damian Rojas in the 58th minute really tested Hubert Villa's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. U21 Austria's Robin Büteführ was substituted for Marco Allen. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 65th minute of the game. One of U21 Austria:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of U21 Mexico:s goal. Giannis Antetokounmpo walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. Hubert Villa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomás Ortzi in the 70th minute of play. Steffen-Julian Alen struck a weak shot in the 73rd minute. Paulo Oliveiro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for U21 Austria. In the 80th minute, Steffen-Julian Alen ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Paulo Oliveiro was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-2. After a defensive mix-up in U21 Mexico's zone, Nico-Pascal Kapteina stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Paulo Oliveiro came out of the goal and Nico-Pascal Kapteina tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 86 minutes, Nico-Pascal Kapteina made it 4-2 with a short kick to the right side. U21 Mexico's Paulo Oliveiro tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Jonatan Bilintx could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 90th minute of the match, but Hubert Villa made a huge save. When Moises Rojas fell near the penalty area in the 95th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored U21 Mexico's protests and gave Moises Rojas a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of U21 Austria booed when U21 Mexico was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Moises Rojas didn't get a good kick on the ball. U21 Mexico's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
