Victorio Patrido scored 1-0 in the 8th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Cebrián Abajas, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The audience thought a goal was coming when Flavio Gaspard got free with Cebrián Abajas in the 11th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 13 minutes of play, RIVER PLATE's Apolo Arce made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Cebrián Abajas was left in no man's land by his defense there! Cebrián Abajas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aristides Bernaldo, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. Flavio Gaspard sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Flavio Gaspard could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 20th minute of the match, but Cebrián Abajas made a huge save. Cebrián Abajas was out of position in the 21 minute of play, and Aristides Bernaldo capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Aristides Bernaldo really showed his touch with that goal: 3-0. Cartagena Red Wolves's Cebrián Abajas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Apolo Arce in the 23rd minute of play. Cebrián Abajas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Flavio Gaspard in the 27th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Generoso Froylan in the 29th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Cebrián Abajas prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 30 minutes into the match, Cartagena Red Wolves's goalkeeper Cebrián Abajas had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Domingos Fortun. Apolo Arce struck a weak shot in the 32nd minute. Cebrián Abajas didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for RIVER PLATE. 35 minutes into the match, Aristides Bernaldo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Cebrián Abajas. Cartagena Red Wolves's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Aristides Bernaldo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-0. After a defensive mix-up in Cartagena Red Wolves's zone, Apolo Arce stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cebrián Abajas came out of the goal and Apolo Arce tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Angel Mora hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 4-0.

The wind increased when Firman Palanques made the kick off in the second half. Cartagena Red Wolves's Gumersindo Rosas managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Apolo Arce in the 53 minute of the game. 61 minutes into the match, Cartagena Red Wolves's goal looked a bit too open when Flavio Gaspard came free, but Cebrián Abajas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Generoso Froylan struck a weak shot in the 62nd minute. Cebrián Abajas didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for RIVER PLATE. Christian Silviano was out of position in the 64 minute of play, and Ildefonso Bargas capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Ildefonso Bargas really showed his touch with that goal: 4-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 69th minute, Gilberto Hats managed to get in a good position for a shot. RIVER PLATE's supporters rose to their feet, but Gilberto Hats was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cebrián Abajas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ildefonso Bargas might have been able to make a better finish in the 71st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Christian Silviano. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ildefonso Bargas ran back to his position shaking his head. Cebrián Abajas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Domingos Fortun, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 78 minutes into the match, Flavio Gaspard notched a goal, 5-1, to the right of Cartagena Red Wolves's Cebrián Abajas. Cebrián Abajas was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Dario Hitz's late challenge caught a Cartagena Red Wolves's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Dario Hitz helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to RIVER PLATE getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Dario Hitz hit a great ball. After 89 minutes of play, RIVER PLATE's Domingos Fortun made it 6-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Cebrián Abajas was left in no man's land by his defense there! Dario Hitz got his second yellow card in the match during the 94th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Angel Mora, 97 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. There was no doubt that RIVER PLATE were the better team. RIVER PLATE's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
