The referee felt a red card was in order, 7 minutes into the game, when Iratxo Dellasierra put in a rough tackle. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 6th minute of the game. One of Cartagena Red Wolves:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of FLAMENGO:s goal. Cartagena Red Wolves:s Cebrián Abajas showed great skill when he stopped Wesley Carvalho:s penalty. Cebrián Abajas came out of the goal in the 8th minute to try and stop a shot by FLAMENGO's Wesley Carvalho. But to his dismay, Wesley Carvalho quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Cebrián Abajas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nicolas Barros in the 11th minute of the match. In the 13th minute of the match Ildefonso Bargas sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Hélder Faria skillfully saved the ball. 19 minutes into the match, Cartagena Red Wolves's goal looked a bit too open when Wesley Carvalho came free, but Cebrián Abajas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 24 played minutes Cartagena Red Wolves got a freekick which was hit by Maurin Escobar. Hélder Faria made a fantastic save in the 30th minute, when Firman Palanques sent off a good shot on target. Nicolas Barros scored 0-3 in the 31st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Cebrián Abajas, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Cebrián Abajas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wesley Carvalho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 35 minutes into the match, Vítor Queirós notched a goal, 0-4, to the right of Cartagena Red Wolves's Cebrián Abajas. Cebrián Abajas was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Cebrián Abajas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wesley Carvalho in the 40th minute of play. Luiz Fábio Munhoz made in the 43rd minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Rony Netto. Cebrián Abajas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rony Netto in the 47th minute of the match. Angel Mora charged in rather forcefully in the 47th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Angel Mora the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Disappointed in the 0-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

In the 53rd minute Amauri Machado shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cebrián Abajas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 57 minutes into the match, Firman Palanques notched a goal, 1-4, to the right of FLAMENGO's Hélder Faria. Hélder Faria was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Cebrián Abajas didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Wesley Carvalho went, in the 60th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-5 was the resulting score. Sidney Diniz made in the 63rd minute of the game a quick throw-in and Rony Netto immediately put the ball in play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Amauri Machado in the 64th minute of play forced Cartagena Red Wolves's goalkeeper Cebrián Abajas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 66 minutes of play, FLAMENGO's Rony Netto made it 1-6 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Cebrián Abajas was left in no man's land by his defense there! Gumersindo Rosas kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. 77 minutes into the match, Wesley Carvalho dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Cebrián Abajas, 1-7. In the 82nd minute the ball was on its way in behind FLAMENGO's goalkeeper Hélder Faria, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 83 minutes into the match, Rony Netto dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Cebrián Abajas, 1-8. Firman Palanques struck a weak shot in the 92nd minute. Hélder Faria didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cartagena Red Wolves. The crowd rose to their feet as FLAMENGO's Rony Netto slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Cebrián Abajas. That made the score 1-9 after 95 minutes of play. The FLAMENGO supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing FLAMENGO would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
