The audience thought a goal was coming when Tymoteusz Watarz got free with Tolek Kiszkiel in the 18th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 19 played minutes Olimpia HSB got a freekick which was hit by Fabian Czeszejko. Tolek Kiszkiel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bennvar Post in the 37th minute of play. Fabian Czeszejko's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Pål Sefastsson read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 39th minute of play. 43 minutes into the match, Fabian Czeszejko notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of National Team Cape-Verde's Pål Sefastsson. Pål Sefastsson was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

National Team Cape-Verde's Carlos Alberto Tevez was substituted for Bennvar Post. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Fabian Czeszejko was the one to do the kick off. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Pål Sefastsson prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Pål Sefastsson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fabian Czeszejko, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. The supporters of Olimpia HSB booed when National Team Cape-Verde was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 87 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tymoteusz Watarz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Olimpia HSB's Tomáš Petrásek was substituted for Sixto Yanguas. Olimpia HSB's Zbyszko Skorny was substituted for Artur Walczak. After 88 played minutes National Team Cape-Verde got a freekick which was hit by Tymoteusz Watarz. In the 90th minute, Jacek Pietrowiak ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Pål Sefastsson was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-4. In the 93rd minute, National Team Cape-Verde's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Fernando Morientes fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. The Olimpia HSB players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
