In the 24th minute of the match Guns And Roses got a corner. Vélez Juniors's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Segundo Bordat ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led to Guns And Roses's Agustin Txatxu getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. After some careless play in the Vélez Juniors defense, Nazil Canay kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Elpidio Vitin. The Vélez Juniors fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Elpidio Vitin should have stopped the shot. After 40th play minutes Santos Fonda shot 2-1, a short shot which went by Eustacio Misael and just under the crossbar into goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nazil Canay got free with Elpidio Vitin in the 43rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Naike in the 46th minute of play forced Guns And Roses's goalkeeper Eustacio Misael to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

Vélez Juniors's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Lukas Podolski was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-1.
