The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of Que se abra o mar booed when Avelinos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 2 match minutes in a wonderful position. Antônio de Lima didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 6th minute, Lando Norin left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Que se abra o mar fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lando Norin in the 9th minute of play forced Avelinos's goalkeeper Armando Duarte to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 16th minute, Lando Norin got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With a little luck, Avelinos's Armando Duarte got control of the ball when Ivar Eriksson tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 39th minute Lando Norin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Armando Duarte saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sandro Tepedino took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Silvio Gallo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tato Vega recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 43rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lando Norin in the 45th minute of play forced Avelinos's goalkeeper Armando Duarte to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-1 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Giovani da Cunha to strike the kick off in the second half. Avelinos's Armando Duarte played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tato Vega in the 52nd minute of play. In the 77th minute Tommy Van Elsen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Armando Duarte saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 79 minutes of play, Que se abra o mar's Tommy Van Elsen made it 5-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Armando Duarte was left in no man's land by his defense there! The supporters of Avelinos booed when Que se abra o mar was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pedro Paulo Mangueira didn't get a good kick on the ball. 88 minutes into the game, Que se abra o mar's Loco Orange nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Armando Duarte made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 6-1. Que se abra o mar's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
