After a defensive mix-up in Progresul Bucuresti's zone, Délio do Vale stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ion Dragnea came out of the goal and Délio do Vale tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 19 played minutes Merlin got a freekick which was hit by Patrick Queiroz. After some careless play in the Merlin defense, Emil Ţeica kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Patrick Urbano. The Merlin fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Patrick Urbano should have stopped the shot. Tiberiu Seţeanu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 24th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ion Dragnea made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 5-1. Progresul Bucuresti's Ion Dragnea played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Léo Amorim in the 47th minute of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 5-1 at half-time.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Emil Vlădoiu to make the kick off. Ion Dragnea showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Patrick Queiroz in the 51st minute of the match. A collision led to Merlin getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Patrick Queiroz hit a great ball. Progresul Bucuresti's Ion Dragnea played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Délio do Vale in the 57th minute of play. In a very dangerous position, a player in Merlin fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 59th minute. Penalty! After having played for 64 minutes, Osvaldinho Batista managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Merlin's supporters crossed their fingers, but Osvaldinho Batista was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 65th minute, Léo Amorim left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Merlin fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 7-2. Merlin were awarded a corner in the 72th minute after Progresul Bucuresti's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Délio do Vale took the corner. The Merlin fans' excitement grew in the 76th match minute when Merlin's Patrick Queiroz looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 8-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Léo Amorim sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Progresul Bucuresti's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 9-2. 86 minutes into the game, Patrick Queiroz cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 10-2. Ion Dragnea was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Emil Ţeica kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match. In the 96th minute, Emil Ţeica hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Merlin's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
