C.'s zone, Luiz Fábio Hermes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Douglas Viana came out of the goal and Luiz Fábio Hermes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 7 minutes into the match, SORRISO E. C.'s goalkeeper Douglas Viana had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Luiz Fábio Hermes. Enéas Rodrigues's late challenge caught a SORRISO E. C.'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Enéas Rodrigues helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Imbituba - FSCMZ's Enéas Rodrigues got a free kick in the 11th minute. In the 14th minute Joélson Madureira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Douglas Viana saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luiz Fábio Hermes's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Douglas Viana read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 16th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Luiz Fábio Hermes got free with Douglas Viana in the 19th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Luiz Fábio Hermes's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Douglas Viana read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 20th minute of play. Imbituba - FSCMZ were awarded a corner in the 21th minute after SORRISO E. C.'s defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Diguinho Magalhães took the corner. The corner went over the outstretched arms of SORRISO E. C.'s goalie and right to Enéas Rodrigues. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. SORRISO E. C.'s manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. 24 minutes into the game, Imbituba - FSCMZ's Joélson Madureira nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Douglas Viana made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Joélson Madureira hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. Luiz Fábio Hermes's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Douglas Viana read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 33rd minute of play. Jeremias Vale made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rodrigo Penha in the 35th minute of play. Luiz Fábio Hermes's late challenge caught a SORRISO E. The supporters of SORRISO E. C. booed when Imbituba - FSCMZ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luiz Fábio Hermes didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 39 minutes of play, SORRISO E. C.'s Alberto Mendonça made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jeremias Vale was left in no man's land by his defense there! Horácio Pereira took the ball and in the 44 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jeremias Vale. Jeremias Vale dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Joélson Madureira was the one to do the kick off. After having played for 55 minutes, Luiz Fábio Hermes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Imbituba - FSCMZ's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luiz Fábio Hermes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Lino Souto kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. Alberto Mendonça hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. The supporters of Imbituba - FSCMZ booed when SORRISO E. C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Horácio Pereira didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jeremias Vale came out of the goal in the 74th minute to try and stop a shot by SORRISO E. C.'s Alberto Mendonça. But to his dismay, Alberto Mendonça quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-3. In the 80th minute, Alberto Mendonça made a precise shot to the right of Jeremias Vale. Imbituba - FSCMZ's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-4. In the 83rd minute, SORRISO E. C.'s Alfredo da Rocha ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Jeremias Vale. Jeremias Vale yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-5. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luiz Fábio Hermes in the 91st minute of play forced SORRISO E. C.'s goalkeeper Douglas Viana to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Alfredo da Rocha fell near the penalty area in the 91st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SORRISO E. C.'s protests and gave Alfredo da Rocha a yellow card for diving instead. Alfredo da Rocha hit a great freekick 92 minutes into the match. Douglas Viana took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luiz Fábio Hermes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. SORRISO E. C. had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
