Antônio Carlos Cavalcante showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Claudinei Loureiro in the 8th minute of the match. 14 minutes into the match, Jo Calleri dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Antônio Carlos Cavalcante, 1-0. Palestra do Interior's Antônio Carlos Cavalcante played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vicente Ferraz in the 20th minute of play. Francisco Alagoano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jhon Barcellos in the 24th minute of play. In the 29th minute Norberto Passos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Francisco Alagoano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Thomás Maia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 34 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Palestra do Interior! Palestra do Interior:s Antônio Carlos Cavalcante showed great skill when he stopped Jo Calleri:s penalty. 2-1 came in the 36th minute when Jo Calleri all by himself managed to get straight through the defense and place the ball into the net to the right of Antônio Carlos Cavalcante. Delfim Quintal kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. With a little luck, Palestra do Interior's Antônio Carlos Cavalcante got control of the ball when Jo Calleri tried to sneak it across the goal line. Francisco Alagoano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jhon Barcellos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jo Calleri made a kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Serafim Simão in the 51st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Francisco Alagoano saved Palmares Futebol Clube from getting behind. Jhon Barcellos struck a weak shot in the 58th minute. Francisco Alagoano didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Palestra do Interior. Palestra do Interior's Antônio Carlos Cavalcante played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jo Calleri in the 65th minute of play. Ivo Fantini sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Palestra do Interior's Hortêncio Mandrak was substituted for David Vale. 71 minutes into the game, Palmares Futebol Clube's Jo Calleri nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Antônio Carlos Cavalcante made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-2. Hortêncio Mandrak hit a great freekick 78 minutes into the match. If Vicente Ferraz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Dedé Mazer could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 83rd minute of the match, but Francisco Alagoano made a huge save. After 88 played minutes Palmares Futebol Clube got a freekick which was hit by Fellipe Negri. After a rather tough play, Palestra do Interior's Jhon Barcellos got a free kick in the 90th minute. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Palmares Futebol Clube fans cheered their team off the field, for while Palestra do Interior had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
