Mathias Favoretto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Antônio Carlos Cavalcante made a fantastic save in the 23rd minute, when Héctor Hernández sent off a good shot on target. The supporters of Palestra do Interior booed when MAZER SAF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Breno Bidon didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 32nd minute, Héctor Hernández managed to get in a good position for a shot. MAZER SAF's supporters rose to their feet, but Héctor Hernández was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Antônio Carlos Cavalcante breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Toninho Schmidt showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jhon Barcellos, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. Antônio Carlos Cavalcante took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Paulo Renato Gonçalves, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 36th minute Paulo Renato Gonçalves shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Antônio Carlos Cavalcante saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Héctor Hernández stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 65th match minute, MAZER SAF was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pedro Luiz Prestes to maneuver through the defense. MAZER SAF made a substitution. In the 85thth minute of the game Jhon Barcellos who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but MAZER SAF's Toninho Schmidt was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Héctor Hernández took the ball and in the 95 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Antônio Carlos Cavalcante. Antônio Carlos Cavalcante dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1.
