Óscar Cordoba took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Robert Dobbertin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 8 minutes into the match, Robert Dobbertin had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Óscar Cordoba. Sporting de Gijón's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Robert Dobbertin was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Wayne Rooney in the 17thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Jelmer Waard, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 18th minute Robert Dobbertin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Óscar Cordoba saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 29th minute the ball was on its way in behind Sporting de Gijón's goalkeeper Óscar Cordoba, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 30 minutes into the match, Blackeagle's goal looked a bit too open when Diego Maradona came free, but Jelmer Waard reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Yakut Tekdoğan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Óscar Cordoba having to interfere. 37 minutes into the match, Sporting de Gijón's goal looked a bit too open when Robert Dobbertin came free, but Óscar Cordoba reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Wayne Rooney struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Jelmer Waard didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sporting de Gijón. If Robert Dobbertin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Óscar Cordoba showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Robert Dobbertin in the 52nd minute of the match. Óscar Cordoba showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Robert Dobbertin, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. 55 minutes into the match, Sporting de Gijón's goal looked a bit too open when Robert Dobbertin came free, but Óscar Cordoba reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Robert Dobbertin in the 55th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Óscar Cordoba saved Sporting de Gijón from getting behind. Robert Dobbertin had several of the Sporting de Gijón's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 55 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 0-4 score and a disappointed Óscar Cordoba as he didn't even see the shot coming. In the 72nd minute, Saturnino Curcio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Blackeagle's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Yakut Tekdoğan in the 75th minute. Óscar Cordoba took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Robert Dobbertin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 78 minutes into the match, Robert Dobbertin notched a goal, 0-5, to the right of Sporting de Gijón's Óscar Cordoba. Óscar Cordoba was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Sporting de Gijón made a substitution. Carolo Ovando replaced Alejandro Rufo. In the 83rd minute, Saturnino Curcio got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Blackeagle's Ricardo Quaresma was substituted for Doğan Ferikoğlu. Eustacio Loiola made in the 88th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Blackeagle's Yakut Tekdoğan. Saturnino Curcio scored 1-5 in the 90th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jelmer Waard, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 93rd minute Fazıl Hüsnü Kayıhan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Óscar Cordoba saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Blackeagle's Jelmer Waard played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Matias Bilintx in the 96th minute of play. The Blackeagle supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Blackeagle would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
