Galatasaray GS's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Diego Maradona was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. 8 minutes into the game, Eustacio Loiola cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Kurt Tham was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Kurt Tham made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Diego Maradona in the 11th minute of play. Thor Kellman's late challenge caught a Sporting de Gijón's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Thor Kellman helped the player get up and apologised. Dan Åkesson hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. Kurt Tham took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Matias Bilintx, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Kurt Tham showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Diego Maradona, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. Kurt Tham showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wayne Rooney in the 25th minute of the match. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Matias Bilintx was the one to do the kick off. In the 55th minute, Matias Bilintx reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Kurt Tham. The goal made the score 0-9. Kurt Tham was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Matias Bilintx showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-10 in the 60 minute of play. Matias Bilintx took the ball and in the 64 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Kurt Tham. Kurt Tham dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-11. When the match clock showed 71 minutes, the score became 0-12 when Matias Bilintx sped through Galatasaray GS's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Kurt Tham. After 76 played minutes Sporting de Gijón got a freekick which was hit by Diego Maradona. In the 77th play minute Matias Bilintx came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Kurt Tham. 0-13. After 83 minutes of play, Sporting de Gijón's Matias Bilintx made it 0-14 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Kurt Tham was left in no man's land by his defense there! Kurt Tham stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Matias Bilintx's shot from short distance in the 88th minute. 91 minutes into the game, Urban Molin was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Galatasaray GS's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sporting de Gijón the free kick. Urban Molin hit a great freekick 91 minutes into the match.
