With his leg Jon Iruegas managed to avoid a goal in the 16thth minute, when Surahammar's Radamel Oakley fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Jan Lindström didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Fernanco Peso went, in the 20th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Jon Iruegas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Radamel Oakley in the 24th minute of play. 28 minutes in the game Casemiro Joinvilense did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Radamel Oakley. Fernanco Peso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 31st minute Radamel Oakley shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jon Iruegas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Sporting Cristal getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Tobias Larsson hit a great ball. Jon Iruegas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Radamel Oakley, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cristiano Osman hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. In the 40th minute Fernanco Peso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jan Lindström saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Surahammar's attentive Markus Wallman managed to snatch the ball when Ivon Curiel made a throw-in in the 51st minute of the game. In the 52nd minute, Virgil Van Dijk ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jon Iruegas was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. After 54 played minutes Sporting Cristal got a freekick which was hit by Ludomil Kolba. If Radamel Oakley had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Jon Iruegas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Radamel Oakley, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. André Pettersson replaced Radamel Oakley. The audience was convinced that André Pettersson's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jon Iruegas was relentless in the 71st minute of the game.
