Seating: 2369, VIP seats: 206) With a little luck, Denmark's Nils Elmhuus got control of the ball when Jonathan Sammut tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 6th match minute, Denmark was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Randy Bastard to maneuver through the defense. Malta's John Lennon couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 6th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Denmark. In the 8th minute Svend Betz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Leonardo Da Vinci saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Leonardo Da Vinci didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Lenni Prehn went, in the 10th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Leonardo Da Vinci took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Svend Betz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd rose to their feet as Malta's Jonathan Sammut slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Nils Elmhuus. That made the score 1-1 after 19 minutes of play. In the 28th minute Lasse Delvig shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Leonardo Da Vinci saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 30th match minute, Malta was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Neil Degabriele to maneuver through the defense. When Paw Carbac came up free with the goalie in the 32nd minute, the Denmark fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Paw Carbac couldn't finish the play. 40 minutes into the match, Denmark's goal looked a bit too open when Jonathan Sammut came free, but Nils Elmhuus reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Denmark's Lenni Skensved managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Pepe Ferreira in the 41 minute of the game. Leonardo Da Vinci showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Svend Betz, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute.
The wind increased when Jonathan Sammut made the kick off in the second half. After 52 minutes, Neil Degabriele mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Malta and the Denmark players grew even worse after the yellow card. Neil Degabriele kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. A collision led to Malta getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Jonathan Sammut hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Denmark's zone, Jonathan Sammut stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nils Elmhuus came out of the goal and Jonathan Sammut tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lasse Delvig in the 61st minute of play forced Malta's goalkeeper Leonardo Da Vinci to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 61 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Malta! Malta:s Leonardo Da Vinci showed great skill when he stopped Danny Grønnow:s penalty. 62 minutes into the match, Danny Grønnow had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Leonardo Da Vinci. Malta's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Danny Grønnow was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. The crowd rose to their feet as Denmark's Lenni Prehn slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Leonardo Da Vinci. That made the score 1-3 after 67 minutes of play. Denmark made a substitution. Martin Rana replaced Lasse Delvig. Malta made a substitution. Giuseppe Preca replaced Jonathan Sammut. Denmark's Teddy Tholsted was substituted for Svend Betz. Leonardo Da Vinci made a fantastic save in the 76th minute, when Teddy Tholsted sent off a good shot on target. 77 minutes had been played when some careless play by Malta's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Paw Carbac was slow to take the kick. During this time Denmark's players had a chance to rest. Malta's Leonardo Da Vinci proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 79th minute of the match, managed to save Malta from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Martin Rana in the 82nd minute of play forced Malta's goalkeeper Leonardo Da Vinci to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With an all-out effort, Denmark's Leonardo Da Vinci threw himself towards the right post 85 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Martin Rana, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Denmark's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Paw Carbac in the 87th minute. Nils Elmhuus came out of the goal in the 91st minute to try and stop a shot by Malta's Giuseppe Preca. But to his dismay, Giuseppe Preca quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-3. Teddy Tholsted could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 95th minute of the match, but Leonardo Da Vinci made a huge save. In the 97th minute, Giuseppe Preca ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Nils Elmhuus was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-3.
