The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Tyler McCraw during the 9th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After having played for 14 minutes, Angus Howison managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Rangers FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Angus Howison was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Raymond Johnston kicked well hit freekick during the 16th minute of the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Saint Côme de Fresné's Guillaume Barillot slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Fergus Fairbairn. That made the score 1-0 after 19 minutes of play. The supporters of Rangers FC booed when Saint Côme de Fresné was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Olivier Barnier didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 23 played minutes Rangers FC got a freekick which was hit by Angus Howison. Angus Howison sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Noël Clenet came out of the goal in the 32nd minute to try and stop a shot by Rangers FC's Raymond Johnston. But to his dismay, Raymond Johnston quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. The supporters of Rangers FC booed when Saint Côme de Fresné was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Olivier Barnier didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Angus Howison came up free with the goalie in the 40th minute, the Rangers FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Angus Howison couldn't finish the play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Guillaume Barillot stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Darius Bontine kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. Olivier Barnier took the ball and in the 62 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Fergus Fairbairn. Fergus Fairbairn dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. Fergus Fairbairn took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Olivier Barnier, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 71 minutes of play, Saint Côme de Fresné's Thibaut Abeille made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Fergus Fairbairn was left in no man's land by his defense there! 75 minutes into the game, one of Rangers FC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Raymond Johnston came free with the goalkeeper in the 90th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Noël Clenet could save by the left post. Saint Côme de Fresné's Noël Clenet proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 93rd minute of the match, managed to save Saint Côme de Fresné from getting a goal against them. After 97 minutes, Nick Lamb mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Rangers FC and the Saint Côme de Fresné players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Saint Côme de Fresné booed when Rangers FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 97 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nick Lamb didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 98th minute, a hard, long distance shot from Côme Durieu hit the top of the crossbar and flew over the goal.
