Fernando Waterreus recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 7th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. S.C. Potentia's Naci Ünüvar proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 13th minute of the match, managed to save S.C. Potentia from getting a goal against them. Fernando Waterreus scored 0-1 in the 15th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Dida Braga, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kaká da Silva in the 17th minute of play forced S.C. Potentia's goalkeeper Naci Ünüvar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. S.C. Potentia's defense didn't have a chance, in the 18th minute, when Bernardo de Salles scored to the left of an out of position Naci Ünüvar, making the score, 1-1. 26 minutes into the match, S.C. Potentia's goalkeeper Naci Ünüvar had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Otávio Leme. The audience thought a goal was coming when Otávio Leme got free with Naci Ünüvar in the 27th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Through an outstanding action, after 30 minutes, Naci Ünüvar successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Dida Braga took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gregor Ranzijn, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Bernardo de Salles recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 35th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. O MOTIVO ⚽'s Dida Braga played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fernando Waterreus in the 37th minute of play. An unexpected shot in the 39th minute by Otávio Leme got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Kaká da Silva charged in rather forcefully in the 40th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Kaká da Silva the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of S.C. Potentia booed when O MOTIVO ⚽ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Manuel Maciel didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 45 minutes, Ronny Roewen managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. S.C. Potentia's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ronny Roewen was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Naci Ünüvar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Válter Mattos in the 52nd minute of play. Dida Braga took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fernando Waterreus, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd rose to their feet as S.C. Potentia's Fernando Waterreus slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Dida Braga. That made the score 1-2 after 58 minutes of play. When Ruud Schokkenbroek fell near the penalty area in the 61st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored S.C. Potentia's protests and gave Ruud Schokkenbroek a yellow card for diving instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 68th minute, Otávio Leme managed to get in a good position for a shot. O MOTIVO ⚽'s supporters rose to their feet, but Otávio Leme was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Naci Ünüvar breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ruud Schokkenbroek in the 70th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dida Braga prevented the ball from getting in the gole. A collision led to O MOTIVO ⚽ getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Otávio Leme hit a great ball. The supporters of O MOTIVO ⚽ booed when S.C. Potentia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fernando Waterreus didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 82nd minute of the game Jaime Quirino made a throw-in which Válter Mattos played forward. Fernando Waterreus sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Valdemar Seabra fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dida Braga having to interfere. S.C. Potentia's Valdemar Seabra was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 97th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal.
